  • Iron: is essential for hemoglobin and oxygen transport.
  • B12/folate: Supports DNA synthesis in erythropoiesis.
  • Ascorbic acid (vitamin C): Enhances iron absorption, ensuring maximum effectiveness.
04Side Effects
  • This intravenous infusion should be administered with caution to patients with G6PD deficiency, low blood pressure (≤ 90/60 mmHg), hypokalemia, patients taking Digoxin or other potassium-depleting medicines, and those patients with known allergy to vitamins and minerals indicated above. Consult your healthcare practitioner if any other prescription or over-the-counter medications are currently used or are prescribed for future use.
  • Hypotension
  • Metallic taste
  • Nausea
  • Rare allergic reactions (including anaphylactoid reactions)
05Contraindications

These intravenous infusions should not be administered to patients with:

  • Chronic renal insufficiency
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Atrial fibrillation, and
  • known allergies on vitamins, minerals, and related substances. and other ingredients contained in the IV infusion bag.
  • This should not be administered to patients below 18 years old.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding
  • Iron overload disorders (hemochromatosis)
  • Active infection (relative)

 

06Interactions
  • Drug Interactions: Digoxin, diuretics, potassium-depleting medicines. If the patient is taking any medicine, check first for any possible drug interaction before use. Do not take alcohol, sleep aid, or tranquilizers of other CNS depressants.
  • Iron x Bromperidol : Iron x Blood Pressure Lowering Agents may enhance the hypotensive effect of Bromperidol.
  • Iron x Dimercaprol : Dimercaprol may enhance the nephrotoxic effect of Iron Preparations.
  • Iron x Levonadifloxacin: Iron Preparations may decrease the serum concentration of Levonadifloxacin
